I just ran across this article: Former DHS official: privacy activists responsible for TSA groping - Ben Franklin just rolled over in his grave.

I am not sorry that Stewart Baker is no longer in the DHS, but it is truly a pity that the DHS, NSA and almost every law enforcement agency is full of these types, who would rather keep you “safe” than maintain your rights - keep you safe in spite of yourself, to use an older phrasing.

Even more of a pity is that these same self-righteous sorts think that they do not have to abide by the laws they enforce (or make up on the fly), so that they ultimately become a far more corrupting and destructive force than anything they are supposed to protect us from.

The Nazis used this same sort of logic, so I am not about to start sympathizing with it now.   I consider this attitude and its practitioners a far greater threat to my life than anything the “terrorists” ever did - zealots are self regulating through their own ignorance and stupidity, but power drunk government officials only get fatter and more numerous.
