Pick an NSA portal, please…

Any cloud out there is as good as any other, all bits travel through the NSA, right?  We have Microsoft, Google,… With that in mind, why does anyone want anything to do with the cloud?  I think this fellow has the right idea: Can we just shut up about cloud already?

Any company with a whiff of American connection is now truly screwed when it comes to selling services or software in Europe, thanks to the NSA’s amazing overreach.  Same thing goes for anybody with any sort of serious intent to maintain their privacy - who knows when you could become swept up as a person of interest because of an incidental interaction with a stranger on Twitter where you made a smartass comment about their latest tweet or something innocuous like that.  I now keep several files encrypted, a couple of which might be worth keeping private.  While I am not so exposed to the government’s hacking as Windoze users, I don’t trust that the NSA’s “tame hackers” haven’t cooked up a special hack for Linux, too.  I used to like FireFox, so more’s the pity.

Joseph Heller had it right in Catch-22: Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t after you.
