Stop the Madness, Yet Again

Paris is burning, and the Insane State is trying to get the blame. Regardless of whether they had anything to do with it, there is a case to be made that their madness was at least partially responsible. The real question in my mind is why any civilized nation puts up with this madness within their borders.  No, I am NOT blaming Muslim.  It is only one version of the madness.  The real madness is a drug problem:

Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people“ - Karl Marx

This quote points up the basic problem with all of the beliefs of Muslims, Jews, Catholics, you name the religion - it is not based in reality, but in wishful thinking, in fantasy triumphant. Religion is a drug on par with any of the chemicals that people eat, drink or inject.

Like all drugs usage, when it gets out of control, bad things happen.  Since religion is unreasoning belief (superstition), it is a natural tool of those that want power - if a person believes in one fantasy, selling the second one is trivial.  Fantasy-based thinking leaves no anchor in reality to debunk the second sales pitch, so there is nothing to slow it (whatever it is) down.  This madness is a natural result of disconnection from reality, just as it is in other psychiatric problems.

We can only watch as thousands die right now as a result of this kind of insanity - whether it is the depredations of the Insane State or the deaths of newborn babies in the United States because people bought the Republican Party’s brand of craziness, the superstitious belief in any fantasy kills in the long run.  The fantasy refusal of many to accept the scientific evidence of global warming has delayed any sort of solution to it or mitigation of it.  The substitution of superstition for reality will continue to have more and more destructive consequences the longer it goes on, whether it is the slow destruction of global warming or the incredible murder, rape and pillage of ISIS and the other Islamists.

Ugly, messy, complicated Reality hasn’t a chance when you can shoot up your religion of choice and the bad world goes away in warm, hazy clouds of angels singing “la la la.”  If countries spend billions trying to eradicate drugs and their usage, why can’t they spend a few pence on the problem of religion?
