Oh, Shit - the Trump Card

I read a sorta-interesting article today - “Are Bad Bosses Fueling Trump’s Political Success?” - that points out how some people could have been influenced by Trump’s media performances in making their political decisions, but the title spoke to a larger truth about what the Repugs have done to us. The political unit I am talking about here is the combination of the heads of the big corporations that still control the majority of the employment landscape (moonscape?) here and their wholly-owned political toadies, the visible political arm.

A bit of history, first: Hitler built his populism on the wreckage that World War One & seq. made of the German economy and the German people’s resentment of that.  The Wiemar Republic had no economy to speak of, thanks to an extremely harsh punishment for being the losers of the war, and Hitler played the resentment it generated like a virtuoso.

Now we have the wreckage of the US economy, with its corporate greed and its management shortsightedness and malfeasance, and the resulting political corruption.  The big bosses have done a thorough job of wrecking the economy, and this is what I thought of when I saw the “Bad Bosses” headline.

We also have a master populist that has managed to barge onto the national political stage by riding the resentment that the economic wreckage has caused.  There are actually quite a lot of parallels between Trump and Hitler if anyone would bother reading history, but the one I am looking at now is the cause and effect of economic wreckage enabling a two-bit rabble-rouser to rise above his talent level to take the national stage and potentially cause even greater damage.

The Repugs can only blame themselves if this piece of shit eats them alive - their fascist politics and policies, at least since Ronnie Raygun, bear a great deal of the responsibility for this clown act’s rise to power.  They are the ones responsible, with their greedy corporate owners, of creating the fertile bed that Trump is growing his mushrooms in, and they deserve to hang from a lamp post with the Mussolinis of the world.

Sad to say that the responsible parties usually get off largely unscathed - take a trip through South America sometime and see how the Nazis and Italian Fascists fared.  At least some of us recognize them for what they are, small consolation that that is.
