A Look at the Revolution Now Ending

I really do get tired of being called a “Liberal” when the idiot on the other end of the yack has no clue. The intelligent people in the current political argument - the ones that keep getting called liberal just because they don’t buy the fascist bullshit - have never had that kind of delusions. We don’t even agree with each other all the time. On the other hand, the intelligent people refuse to accept the tribal idiocy of the cult of the orange turd.

The core of the fascist “base” - that 30 or so percent of the general United States populace that really do support the fake president -  are the losers in the last social revolution, now ended except for the rest-guard action they represent. In many cases, they are the same bunch as the losers in the culture wars - the uneducated, the superstitious brainwashed, and the “white male” bubbas still living on their delusions of racial and sexual superiority.

The other part of this class is the real losers in this revolution - the rich and those that have made their living off of artificial authority. Money is no longer the power in modern society, and that bit of news is slowly soaking into the formerly powerful - the oligarchs, the shamans (“religious” leaders who derive their power off of guilt trips and imaginary gods) and most of what used to be the political class in the free world. The leaders of the cult of the orange turd are in this latter group, and they are dying with it.

The fascists - the former republican party - in the current fight in the US represent the old power structure boiled down to its essence - pure brute force, uncaring and small-minded, the power of dictatorship. This is true across all of the “liberal democracies” to some degree, with the worst of it in the U.S. represented by the “conservatives” - the fundamentalists, Nazis, KKK and other racist groups, anti-immigrant groups - all contributing “soldiers” to a rear-guard action that they know they are losing, and fight harder because of it.

The forward-looking - the new economies of Northern Europe and the high-tech economy of California are prime examples - are under siege from these rear-view-mirror sorts in several ways, but the economic strength of the more humane work and social environments buffer them from the worst problems that the backwards crowd can cause. While the newer structures are not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, they represent major steps forward for human existence and real hope for the future.

Finally, the new Democrats in the US - Bernie Sanders and the like - represent a chance to modernize the United States economy and social structure in ways not heard of since the idealistic days of the 1960s.  The idea of an entire country going forward together into an improving future had been under fire from the right since at least Richard Nixon, when the true spirit of the New Deal died under fire from the divide-and-conquer tactics of the first president to disgrace the Whitehouse completely. His “war on drugs” was really a war on the intellectual left that was the real threat to his right-wing authoritarian pre-fascism. Ronnie Raygun morphed the fake drug war into a complete war on an open society, instituting the first of many fascist government structures in the form of the DEA. The current occupant of the Whitehouse - another complete disgrace to the office - has completed the transition of the government from any pretense of democracy into a fascist dictatorship in everything but name, or so he thinks.

The only question left now is how many more must die before the fascists are finally put into the dumpster of history. Right now we lose many people every day in the US due to the twin travesties of elitist medical care and artificial poverty, things already mostly solved in the progressive societies of northern Europe. The new Democratic Socialists here offer us some hope, but their fight is going to be long and hard.
