The Incompetents

Regular people didn’t elect the current occupant of the Whitehouse - there is no doubt about that. The real question has always been, “Why did anyone vote for him?”

While he verbally appealed to the religious conservatives, there was plenty of information out there to prove that he wasn’t one of them. Likewise, he made it his aim to (attempt to) discredit and roll back everything Obama, and thereby captured the racist vote. His babbling idiocy in office has ended up making Obama look brilliant. Don’t even bring up the pathological lying and womanizing.

None this has affected his popularity with his base. When the fake president was campaigning, he loved to talk about the “elites in Washington,” which most of us took to mean the rich and powerful. Based on who he is and what he has done since being sworn in, that was not at all what he meant.

Based on his actions since contaminating the Whitehouse, it looks like his “elites” were the people that got to their positions through competence and the ability to do their jobs. The tweeting toddler is wildly incompetent, and his hiring choices showed that he doesn’t value any skill in others. If we take his use of “elite” to mean competent, things suddenly begin to make sense.

If we look at his voting base as “incompetents,” then it becomes obvious why they would vote for him, and why they are so undyingly faithful. For them, lying is a normal part of existence. Most of them can barely hold a job, hence the common epithet as “trailer trash.” A look around one of trump’s Nazi rallies brings the word “loser” to mind. Competent and capable are not words that apply.

Incompetence is the strongest tie between the fake president and his base. Other than their sheer numbers, there is nothing that regular people have to fear from them. They inevitably self-destruct, and their figurehead pseudo-president is leading the way.
