America is a Failed Experiment

Rome died under internal attack, and we aren’t changing that script

We have long known that Rome died under attack from inside. The ruling classes lost their will to power and their intellectual strength. This allowed the barbarians they thought they had conquered to destroy them instead. The United States is following down the same path.

The United States succeeded because we based our economy on education. Every state had a system that educated people. They did it in ways that helped the industries in those states exist and be strong. This created an industrial economy and allowed us to go to a war footing quickly and effectively. Industrial factories told their minimally educated wage slaves to “show up on time and check your brains at the door.”

When World War II ended, we were the undisputed leaders in technology and economic power. The war and the technological revolution it spawned changed everything, though. It created post-industrialism.

We no longer have an industrial economy

The post-industrial economy no longer operates the same way. The country went from making “stuff” to making “better stuff.” We as customers wanted more quality and better products. The “stamp out the same old junk” that made industry profitable and millionaire industrialists no longer worked. Industrial millionaires lost power. They found that the brains they had to hire to survive were far less willing to take their abuse. That changed the power dynamics of the workplace.

The technology industries and their massive profitability are products of post-industrialism. The brains behind the new form created better computers and software. They were also behind the creation of better-running cars. Cars now last far longer than their cruder industrial-only counterparts. Those brains have helped classical industries reduce labor costs with robots and smart machines. They have created other technological fixes for problems plaguing the older industrial systems. Americans have benefited from all of this. We have gotten better quality products and more effective services. A prime example of something that jumped orders of magnitude ahead was health care.

All of this took power away from the old-money industrialists. An educated and literate public left the traditional religions in droves. The churches and their power dwindled under the onslaught of reality. The basis of power in America shifted from money to intellect.

The farthest right of the churches and the richest of the rich have now ganged up to stop this trend. The rich shipped the technology jobs off-shore. Now American workers couldn’t profit from their education and intellect. The churches took over politics and made everything they could illegal under the guise of ridiculous so-called “morals.”

The GOP, as the driver of the disaster, did all it could to funnel the money upward to the rich. It shut down education to keep the smart people from seeing through their frauds. It blocked the education system teaching higher reasoning and updated intellectual skills. These are tools that we needed to continue building the post-industrial economy, and we didnt’ get them. Students were forced into the same educational mold that their great-great-grandparents were. That made worthless to an idea-based economy.

On top of destroying education, the GOP kept up a constant stream of lies. Those lies blamed the government for everything. They taught that the people were victims of that government and not responsible for their situation. The constant spew of sewage from the GOP has turned the losers in the economic struggles into the conned-conservative right. They became the useful idiots that have driven the election and re-election of the orange con man. It is no surprise that the stupid pseudo-president would give orders to trash the Education Department. Smart people have always been the worst enemy a third-grade playground bully could have.

What was the biggest example of the progress has become the worst example of the destruction. The healthcare system has gone from something that benefited the people to “your money or your life.” It is now an extremely efficient way of robbing the people and funneling their money to the rich. On top of that, the medical outcomes have gotten worse, not better.

The MAGAts have never hidden their true colors, but the majority of the citizenry wanted to believe that we couldn’t be so stupid.

A typical orange cult lie, “MAGA” really means “make the orange maniac king.” Even the centerpiece of the orange message is a blatant lie. It has nothing to do with reality, which is why they rarely use the full version. The “America” of the slogan is and always has been the butt of the joke.

MAGA has always meant anarchy. It has never had any respect for the Constitution, the laws, or the functioning of the government. That is why so few intelligent people are under that umbrella - it is classic lowest-common-denominator politics. The MAGA tent has the Nazis, the Klan and the other losers of the Civil War as its main constituents. These are people that were already living fantasies even before the orange cult came along.

We have lasted a half-century under concentrated internal attack.

Even back as far as Reagan it was obvious that the right and their GOP allies were fascists. Antifa formed when a bunch of educated people recognized that and decided to do something about it. That makes Antifa, a small, quiet and peaceful coalition into Enemy #1 for the orange idiot child who would be king. What has become more evident in the years since Reagan is how much of the richest 1% of America is really fascists. While we know that Musk, Thiel, Uhlein, and other billionaires are funding it to the hilt. The now openly fascist GOP has made it clear that billionaires are welcome to their club. Only a couple of billionaires have excluded themselves. Those exceptions are well hated.

It is now obvious that the fascist billionaires have been funding the right all along. Some of them are even fellow fright wing fruitcakes, with all of the wildly insane mindset that they support. In particular, Thiel and the Uhleins have come out and said as much.

The newer tech billionaires have been spineless toadies in the face of a fascist assault. Musk is a recent billionaire, but he just wants to make the U. S. into his new apartheid state. The conned-servatives that contribute nothing but votes to the GOP love the idea of a new slave regime, so they of course love Musk as well. It is easy to feel sorry for that bunch knowing how badly they are being screwed by the GOP, but they did bring it on themselves by believing all of the lies.

I put those three in that order to emphasize who gets orders from whom. Clearly, the orange loon has no brains and that someone else was pulling his strings. Since he let Musk in to lead the destruction, it has become increasingly evident who is really in charge. We have known since early in his first term that the orangutan is Putin’s puppet. The Musk revelation is more to the point of “who is the orange whack-job’s handler.”

None of that changes the basic premise of this piece—the U.S. is succumbing to an internal attack. The question is whether we have enough brains and real moral strength to stand up to the insanity and inhumanity. Right now we are failing miserably and becoming another Putin puppet state. We need to prove that even as weak as we are, the American experiment can fight back from lying on our backs on the mat. We will have to come out swinging and keep the experiment going.

Right now, I have little reason for hope. The Temple of Saturn in the picture at the top of this piece has been reduced to little more than a tourist stop. That is all that remains of the original Roman Empire. The remains of the United States are likely to be nothing but a tourist trap for future generations. That is unless Putin decides to destroy us completely. Leaving us to the ravages of global warming could easily do it without him even trying.
