Better Dead? With the Republicans running the political and industrial machinery of the U. S. into the ground, the irony of their “Death Panels” accusations continues to haunt me. After all, I am among those in the Republican’s “Better Dead” category:
I am scraping by to stay in the middle class, and therefore too poor to be in “the club.”
Since I am in the category of those that are not independently wealthy, the only use the Republicans have for me is to make some Republican rich, and to do so with every bit of my life. Since I use my life for something other than working and spending my self into massive debt, I am not welcome on their planet.
I am reaching the age where I would like to retire, and hope to have a pension of some sort to draw on. This means that not only am I not going to make the Republicans richer, but I am actually going to be withdrawing the money I have put into the Republican’s slush fund - my 401(k) - to pay for basic things like food and shelter. Not only that, but I am going to be taking something out of the House Republican’s deficit fig leaf - the Social Security trust fund - making it that much harder for them to claim that they are really interested in reducing the deficit. I suppose the political animals that came up with the Death Panel bullshit were looking in the mirror.
