Global Warning

First off, those of you too stupid to comprehend or too brainwashed to “believe in” global warming, move along - this is a discussion for adults.

OK, now that the morons have left, I have a serious question:  has anybody done the math and/or simulations to see how much this “polar vortex” is going to speed up the north polar ice cap melting?  At least to this engineer’s understanding of thermodynamics, when the cold air spreads south, it means that warm air is moving north.

I know that this is air movement, not water, so it doesn’t carry as much heat, but it may also herald a shift in water flows, which is why I am asking the questions.  Any increased heat transfer towards the north cannot be a good thing given the rate at which the polar ice cap is melting, although the long-hoped-for Northwest Passage may be about to open, so we can drill for more greenhouse gas-creating oil up there soon…

I guess we can let the children back in now, I just had to ask a couple of serious questions.
