The Death Knell of U. S. TechLet’s face it - if the fake president’s original claim about how we have all been screwed by the rich had been his real message, he would have had 90+ percent of the voting public on his side. Unfortunately, only the incompetent - those not equipped to deal with the lies - missed the truth about him. His “base” is those who claim that they have have been left behind by the technology-driven economy, but they are not smart enough to figure out how badly they are being “had”, and continue to fall for the con job. Mind you, the competent sorts - the people who create the technology and make it useful - are being left behind as well. Short-sighted MBA-driven business management has been reducing the real pay of those of us who create value for at least 25 of my 30 years in the business. If the orangutan had had any ideas that might have improved the situation, we would have been on them in a second, but all we saw were his lies. The “business” bunch seem to love the orange toddler. The short-sighted MBAs that enjoy making all business decisions on a “financial basis” have found a politician that loves gambling with other peoples’ lives just as much as they do. No thinking required; it was love at first lie. From the technologists’ standpoint, the problem with the MBA bunch is that they have exported every bit of the technology-based industries that they could control because it is “cheaper” to do it elsewhere. The vast majority of engineering school grads either go back to their home countries or go on to get their MBA so that they can be managers and make real money. The ones that stay engineers and scientific sorts in the US work twice as hard for half as much money while catching shit from their former classmates for not working hard enough. This situation leaves the country with few capable technologists, further driving the export of the remaining technology jobs, and hobbling the rest of the industries in this country at the same time. The natural enemies of this no-brain approach to doing business are the companies and people that produce technologyand creativity-based “stuff” in the US, and they are the ones that suffer most at the hands of the short-sighted and incompetent. It is hardly surprising that the orange hitler and his minions hate the places where these sorts congregate - the fascists cannot control people who think beyond the ends of their noses. This natural enmity has led the places that host creative types - major cities and most of the state of California - to reject the entire insane pile of shit coming out of the Whitehouse, but it may be too little, too late. The fascists have been taking over the country piecemeal since the time of Nixon, and they have been wrecking the intellectual and economic bases of the tech economy the whole time, so resisting that now may be wasted effort. Unless the competent and creative sorts win the fight, there will be no technology industry left in this country, and shortly after that, there will be no industry at all. All industries - on any level - require automation and associated production technology. Old-style slave-work assembly lines either cannot compete or cannot even produce the goods desired. Even in China, home of near-slavery working conditions, robots do the precision work - the demands of production today allow no less-precise alternative. Automation and technology require experts, and short-sighted, cheap, and competency-hating corporate management is destroying the country’s technology base. The 737-MAX disaster at Boeing is a prime example of this sort of mismanagement and could end up crushing the entire jet airplane industry in the US in the end.
