They Put the White Back in Whitehouse

After decades of masquerading as christian conservatives, the American far right has finally come out and shown their true colors by putting the most virulent racist that American politics has seen in ages into the Whitehouse. All pretense of christianity or conservatism disappeared, and the Nazis, the KKK and all the rest of the marginalized anti-social freaks coalesced under the leadership of a third-rate used-apartment salesman into the ugliest mess this country has seen since the 1960s. The MAGA hat is the new white hood and swastika armband rolled up into one.

We now have a Whitehouse where “Black Lives Matter” is a punch line, and you can hear the laughter halfway up Pennsylvania Avenue every time someone brings it up. Blacks are slaves to that crowd, and their lives are worth what they can be sold for, which is not a lot since such sales are blatantly illegal and immoral in modern societies. The Whitehouse is at least a century and a half out of date, and the party of Lincoln has become the party of Hitler in everything but name, a complete reversal.

Anybody out there tearing up the cities and expecting some sort of racial justice is not thinking, just feeling. I can’t say I blame them - the impulse to violent destruction and revenge is all too human - but this is an example of “revenge is a dish best served cold.” Just like every other time this has happened, the people getting hurt by the violence are not the enemy, but your fellow citizens, black and every other color, that are down at our level, just regular people. Killing cops is only going to get you killed, and they will be happy to point out how justified they were doing it.

What needs to happen is that the racists/fascists (in this case, they are the same group) need to be swept out of all of their positions of power, from the fake president and his insane clown crew in the Executive branch, to Mitch McConnell and the fascist senate, to all of the “conservative” fascist judges that McConnell has railroaded into the federal judiciary. The Executive and Legislative branches can be fixed at the ballot box, especially if we can reverse some of the incredible gerrymanders that gave the loony right so much more power than their numbers deserve.

The Judiciary is going to be more difficult, with only a couple of “legal” ways of getting rid of judges once they get on the bench, but they are the ones that are going to make racial justice truly impossible to achieve once the elected branches of the federal government are returned to the control of adults. While the judiciary in general has shown itself to have at least some sensitivity to social pressure, the judges that the fascists have been putting in were selected for their backward thinking and resistance to change, a combination that is likely to make them easier to eliminate than to change. Think a few hundred Cavanaughs and you get the idea.

While the protestors have (at least for now) some sympathy from the public for the justice of their cause, they/we will never make any progress changing the “hearts and minds” of the fascists in power, at least partially because the fascists have neither hearts not minds. Those of us with brains know that the fascists have provoked these riots malice aforethought, but that doesn’t make us any more sympathetic once the destruction gets close to home. All the rioting is doing is giving the fascists more excuses to kill more blacks whether they are rioters and looters, or moms and dads sitting in their own homes - non-whites are the orange hitler’s scapegoats just as jews were the original Hitler’s.

We need caring, control and intelligence to counter the racism, stupidity and violence of the current administration. History is at least partially repeating itself, so now we need another Martin Luther King Jr. to outsmart the orange fat Nixon.
