Incompetence on Parade

Sit back. Take a deep breath. What just happened?

The orange idiot tried a coup. His storm troopers overran the US Capitol. They killed a few people, including one of their own. They broke some glass and vandalized the place, which made some noise in the media.

Their desired effect: Disrupt the transfer of Presidential power to Biden.

Success: None, Zero, Zilch, Nada, Nit. Maybe a little delay, but only a few hours. Everybody in Congress knew it was going to be a long night anyway.

The real result: Massive incompetence shown on both sides.

A mob, what the orange lunatic would call “a million strong,” whipped up by the orange one himself, invaded the Capitol, or rather a few of them did. They vandalized the place and scared a few Congress critters and staffers, but none of them had the guts to even seriously threaten anyone except the cops assigned to guarding the place.

Looking at the fake president’s side of it, all we see is incompetence and bullshit. They had two full months to prepare for their coup attempt, and the best they could muster was a couple of hundred idiots stupid enough to follow the orange one over the cliff of treason. Even then, none of them had the wherewithal to do with anything serious.

On the other side, both the Capitol and City police showed their lack of competence, commitment, or both. There were not enough of them around, the ones on the scene were completely unprepared for what happened even with plenty of warning, and once they could not ignore the mob’s intent any longer, they still failed to make arrests. From the looks of things, they might have even been taking sides with the protestors, a very serious problem when dealing with a treasonous mob.

So what we ended up with is a more-or-less typical fiasco for the current Whitehouse occupant. No useful results and egg on their faces. We are fortunate that the orange one is thoroughly incompetent, but even more fortunate that we have survived this long as a country under the orange one’s constant assaults on our democracy. Only a couple of more weeks…

Correction: The Capitol Police who were on the front line did their best. No fault there. The law enforcement problems were on the management and command end.
