In the Country of the Blind,…

The one-eyed man is king, or so the saying goes. The cult of the orange fake president makes this one-eyed man feel like a genius, mind you, but not a king. As Marshall McLuhan pointed out, the cult thinks I am hallucinating, but then they are willingly blind - they WANT to be ignorant. I refuse to let them dictate what I am allowed to see. There is only one true world out there, and all of the lies they spout only change the people that believe them. The reality doesn’t change, although the side effects of their lies screw things up for the rest of us.

What prompted this little rant is the obvious blindness and stupidity of the Anti-Vaxxer garbage that the orange cult has refused to stop spouting even though it is killing their believers. I love that it is finally coming home to them, mind you, but the medical types and those that have to care for them don’t deserve the additional abuse from the cult’s idiots. The nice thing about the justice being meted out by COVID is that they cannot lie their way out of it and they can’t lawyer their way past it. I don’t care if they never believe, They are far less of a problem when dead.

Another positive aspect of the situation is that the Anti-Vaxxers are finally getting the blame they deserve from the rest of the citizenry. While Americans are rightfully laissez-faire about others’ opinions, they also have every right to be angry at the people whose ignorance, stupidity, and lies make the risks for the rest of us far worse. It is not opinions, it is outright lies that are the problem. In this case, having to put the masks back on thanks to the idiots that long ago decided they didn’t care enough about anyone else to wear them was apparently the last straw. I say that it is sad that it took us so long to lay the blame where it belongs, but it is finally happening, albeit slowly and incompletely.

It is also nice to see where the police who took the brunt of the orange idiot’s insurrection are getting their time in front of the American people. Like the medical types I mentioned above, they in no way deserved the abuse they got for doing their jobs. Of course, to a dictator-wannabe like the orange princess, anybody in their way is wrong regardless of their job or anything else. Honor in opposing a dictator’s minions is never respected by the dictator, but in this case it does clearly prove the autocratic nature of the orange cult, not to mention once again making obvious their horribly racist nature. I have to laugh at their apologists’ attempts to deny or disclaim the obvious there

When I first saw the orange anus starting his political campaign, I never believed that the kind of insanity his cult has unleashed was possible in the United States. I really thought that the flat earthers and all those monstrous idiocies were fading into the background noise of a technologically advanced society. While I have admitted to seeing a Luddite-sort of backlash in the past, I never dreamed that it could get this insane or so totally stupid. My nightmares were never this bad. I know it is too late to expect it to go away on its own, but I also think that the COVID plague is too big of a price to pay to control them, even if that is what has happened.

I have to admit that the last several years have almost completely destroyed any faith I had in the intelligence of the American people. When I watched the moon landings and learned the wonders of science growing up, I thought we were on top of the world, and we could solve every problem eventually with science. While I still think science is capable of solving the problems, I don’t think that America is capable of nurturing the kind of society that produces problem solvers. All we have done lately is make things worse, and that isn’t changing visibly. The next generations are too busy contemplating their navels.

Perhaps it is just better to let climate change wipe humanity off the face of the earth and start over. We have done it to ourselves - no “god” or whatever necessary - and we richly deserve it for not heeding the lessons of science even though it was quite clear where we were headed back 40 or 50 years ago. I regret having brought kids into the hell that this planet is turning into, but it is too late to turn the clock back on that. My conscience will eat me as long as I live.
