PTSD is NOT a Joke

The New York Times screwed this one up

I am a fan of the New York Times and read them every day I can. They are one of the few places to get real news (mostly) untainted by Faux Noise bullshit. Unfortunately, Brooks Barnes screwed this article about Elizabeth R. Koch up.

Ms. Koch, the daughter of Charles Koch, suffers psychologically, thanks to her insane upbringing. Living with a fascist and slaver left monstrous amounts of damage. I am glad that Ms. Koch has managed to make something of herself separate from the slaver ambitions of her father.

Two things about the article bother me and lead to this rant. One is the author’s insistence on belittling the seriousness of Elizabeth Koch’s problems. Ms. Koch has had severe psychological issues directly caused by her father’s money and upbringing. Calling her “woo-woo” and taking a very New York attitude towards the location and orientation of Ms. Koch’s company makes light of the seriousness of the problems they are trying to address and is thoroughly wrong. A “California woo-woo” solution to a real problem is still a solution.

The other thing that added to my anger was the author’s insistence on minimizing the damage Charles Koch has done and is doing. While his daughter suffers from his harsh approach to life, her father says he is proud of how he raised her, pretending to be blameless about the damage she suffered. The rest of what he does is horrible on a much broader scale.

The surviving Koch brother is the last scion of Fred C. Koch and Koch Industries, which made its original money building oil refineries for Stalin. He has his father’s morals, at least based on the damage he has done and is doing. Koch money has funded so many fright-wing organizations that they might as well come out and admit they are trying to re-institute slavery.

Besides the damage he did to Elizabeth, he, his money, and his leadership have all added to the severe damage that the orange toddler and his GQP have done to America. Charles and his dead brother gave uncounted billions of “dark money” dollars to GQP candidates and organizations to help turn the U. S. into a fascist state.

The Koch Foundation has given well over $100 Million to organizations working for climate-change denial and against government involvement in health care, among other things. Less visible are the backward-looking culture war organizations they have funded.

The Charles Koch Foundation, another conduit for the fright-wing flow of dollars, has spent millions on so-called free-market economics promotions, another way to say unfettered predatory corporate behavior. Colleges, fright-wing “think tanks,” and fright-wing publications have received millions or billions of dollars.

Charles Koch is also a director of the Charles Koch Institute that recently split from the Charles Koch Foundation and exists to promote the “advancement of liberty and economic freedom by educating students in a classroom,” a. k. a. end-stage capitalism.

The sad part of their motherhood statements is that the only freedoms they promote are those of billionaires and mega-corporations to enslave the rest of us. I call it slavery because it is, even if the promoters would never use the word. Like “right to life,” the words they use and the goals they promote have nothing to do with each other.

Anyone paying attention to people like MTg should have recognized by now that a new slavery is one of the primary goals of her and her fellow crackheads in the GQP. I can certainly relate and sympathize if you ignore her. Still, even the genuinely sick and stupid can be dangerous. Crazy people still require attention. Low-level idiots like MTg will come out with the truth sooner or later, leaving the actual promoters polishing their fake halos.

While I appreciate the New York Times and their real news, they sometimes fail to get it right. This one bothered me enough to rant about it.
