Why Bother?

There is nothing really to comment on

I looked at my blog this morning, and realized that my last post was almost two months ago. After a flurry of posts before that, suddenly nothing.

I scratched my head and thought about that. It wasn’t “bad,” just kinda sad. The reason for the gap was simple - there was nothing really new to comment on.

The GQP keeps winning the race to the bottom with itself and digging closer to China, where they belong anyway. Nothing new there. The crackhead caucus in the House does what dipshits do. Yawn. It takes brains to do original things, and the GQP and the fright wing have a hard vacuum between the ears. Even blowing up things and killing people is underwhelming now.

The other one blowing things up and killing people is the orange Hitler’s best buddy Putin. Nothing has changed there either. He had no idea what he was doing when he started up with Ukraine, and he just keeps proving his ignorance. Even someone almost taking him out was hardly newsworthy; everybody figured it would happen sooner or later anyway. The only news would have been if they had succeeded.

Climate change is not news. Sure things are getting worse, but we knew that would happen. It goes on page 3 anymore, because anybody paying attention knows it is coming. Even the acceleration we have seen isn’t new - we had no idea how fast it would get here anyway.

Justice crawls too slowly to make news, even when it is the former pseudo-president and dictator-wannabe getting ready to go to jail. It should have happened twenty years ago, but he managed to stay small time for most of his career. It took politics to make it so the people who enforce laws could no longer ignore him. If he had been smart enough to stay small time, he would very likely not be facing hard time. Once again, brains are missing in this picture.

What would be news and worth discussing would be if someone would actually do something about the U. S.’ carbon addiction. We could start doing something about our dependency on autocrats in our foreign policy. Maybe start treating the refugees at the southern border like people?

There would be plenty of warning if this kind of good stuff was going to happen, though. Corporate fascists own too many congress critters for any real improvement anytime soon. The only reason that good deeds get any coverage at all is that they are the exceptions that prove the rule.

Would someone please make some news worth reporting and commenting on? Maybe act like they care about the future of humanity? Something?
