Making “Conservative” Make Sense

What is Democracy

Conservative means conserving something, right?

Since forever, the people who call themselves “Conservatives” have claimed to be moral paragons. They think they know what is best for you in spite of yourself, etc., etc., and your opinion isn’t relevant. They remade the word until we had to call them as “NeoConservatives” or “Neocons.”

So what do they claim to want to preserve? The best I can figure is they are “preserving” an imaginary past, one that only exists in their imaginations. No two them have the same imaginary pasts. Groups of them share various fairy tales pushed by this or that preacher based entirely on the preacher’s neuroses. The Bible is just a side issue to be thumped, not read or understood.

So who is trying to conserve anything anymore? The only thing threatened and needing “conserving” here is Democracy. I am referring to the democratic form of government that is the basis of this country. There are no longer Democratic and Republican parties. There are no longer liberals and conservatives. What we have now is Fascists represented by their orange Hitler-wannabe, and the rest of us. Starting with Raygun, the former GOP has trashed the country. They were paid for by funding from billionaire corporate fascists. Those corporations and billionaires are now all the former GOP represents. The real parties now are the Orange Fascists and the Red, White, and Blue Democrats trying to “conserve” real U. S. Democracy.

With that in mind, We need to change the labels. the Neocons have destroyed their credibility and any semblance of moral conservatism in their rush to power. Those of us that want a working country and a government “of, by, and for the people” are the ones trying to conserve something. We deserve and have properly earned the label “Conservative.” That label has a bitter taste in my mouth, but it represents the truth, not some con-man’s fascist fantasies.
