Cloudflare Hates (Your) Security

If you secure your browser or its connection, Cloudflare blocks you and lies about it

In the screenshot above, Cloudflare has blocked a website. The problem is that it is lying about why.

I use a VPN and a few other things to secure my browser connections. There is nothing wrong, illegal or immoral about my doing this, but it keeps Cloudflare from collecting and marketing my information, so of course they hate it. It isn’t my browser that is the problem, of course. The problem is Cloudflare, full stop.

The root problem isn’t Cloudflare, but the customers that pay them for their services in spite of this clearly nasty behavior. If their paying customers wouldn’t put up with it, Cloudflare would have to fix their business model, and at least remove the most offensive and invasive parts. The paying customers are the ones hurting themselves, of course, but seem to be either clueless about it or simply don’t care. I know that Cloudflare feeds them a lot of bullshit about the security this buys them, etc., but I am not willing to give up what little security and few shards of privacy I have left to deal with those customers.

I picked an easy, non-commercial site for my screen shot, but several commercial, profit-seeking sites have lost my business for the same reason.

The web is hostile to anyone who cares about their own well being, and Cloudflare is adding to that hostility – in spades.
